Peru is a country full of contrasts and one of the most interesting destinations in South America, as it is a country with a great historical, cultural, geographical, landscape diversity ...
In this trip we will walk through the most famous and spectacular mountainous areas of Peru: the Salkantay and Ausangate areas, where we will walk among majestic “snow covered” mountains, colorful mountains and enjoy spectacular contrasts of landscape between the high mountain and the high jungle. We will also visit the surroundings of Cuzco and Machu Picchu, where we will stroll among archaeological remains of the Incas and visit its ancient capital, Cuzco.
In general, we will enjoy spectacular and varied landscapes, imposing mountains and incredible Inca locations. Luckily, we can also see wildlife characteristic of the Andes such as flame, vicuna or condor.

  • Visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which surrounds Cuzco, is full of palaces, temples and fortresses that are now considered World Heritage.


Day 1: Flight Barcelona - Cuzco

Day 2: Cuzco

Arrival in the morning to Cusco. In the afternoon we will take a tour to visit the most important Inca temples and buildings

Day 3: Acclimatization - Sacred Valley of the Incas

In the first days we will walk little to facilitate acclimatization to height. It is necessary to consider that the city of Cuzco is to 3400m of altitude. This day we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the archeological complex of Ollantaytambo.

Day 4: Acclimatization - Salineres de Maras

We will visit the Salineres de Maras, spectacular salt mines. We will take a short hike to enjoy this spectacular place, which is still being exploited by local families.
Descent: 500m Walking time: 3 hours at a calm pace Transfer by vehicle: 1h 30min

Day 5: Start Salkantay Trek

We will travel by private transport to the village of Mollepata, where we will begin the Salkantay route, walking to the Soraypampa camp (3850m)
Elevation gain: + 1000m; Walking time: 5-6 hours at a calm pace; Transfer by car: 2h 30min

Day 6: Humantay - Salkantaypampa

We leave Soraypampa to head to the Humantay Lagoon (4400m). Then we will continue walking to the camp of Salkantaypampa (4100m). Elevation gain: + 550m; -300m; Walking time: 3-4 hours

Day 7: Salkantaypampa - Coll de Salkantay 4600m - Qollqapampa

We will leave the camp to head to the highest point of the route, the Salkantay Pass (4600m). From here we will begin a long descent, going into the high jungle area to the camp of Qollqapampa (2800m).
Elevation gain: + 500m; -1800m; Walking time: 7-8 hours

Day 8: Qollqapampa - Ahobamba

We will leave the camp to head to Zawayaco beach, and from here to Ahobamba camp (2000m). We will pass through the places called Wiñaypoqo and Llusk'amayu
Elevation gain: -800m; Walking time: 5-6 hours

Day 9: Ahobamba - Aguas Calientes

We will leave the camp to go to the archaeological site of Llaqtapata, where we can visit the Inca ruins and enjoy the views of Machu Picchu. From here we will descend to a hydroelectric power station, where we will take a train that will take us to the village of Aguas Calientes (2000m).
Elevation gain: + 600m; -600m; Walking time: 5-6 hours

Day 10: Macchu Picchu

From Aguas Calientes, we will drive by bus to the Incas of Machu Picchu, where we will enjoy a guided tour of about two hours, and then we will have free time to explore the area in our air. In the afternoon we will return to Aguas Calientes, and from here we will move to Cuzco.

Day 11: Vinicruca - Color Mountain

We will leave Cuzco early and transfer by car to the village of Chilca (4500m), from where we will walk to the mountain of Vinicunca or Montaña de Colores (5100m), from where we can also enjoy the Apu Ausangate, the "snowfall" most revered by the Incas. Positive slope: 600m. Negative slope: 600m. Walking time: 5-6 hours. Transfer by car: 3 hours

Day 12: Cuzco - Return flight to Barcelona
